Cyber Intelligence Analyst
I conduct deep and thorough online research via search engines, social media, and various tools. Cyber Intelligence is beneficial in so many scenarios, from security, to investigations, to making big decisions. I set up my investigations to avoid being discovered or tracked, I follow all laws when conducting intelligence (that means no hacking or befriending your subjects), and I know how to collect valuable digital evidence in a way that will be accepted in court.
Workplace Investigations
I am a licensed Private Investigator with HRPA certification. When reports of bullying, harassment, sexual assault, discrimination or violence come in, the company is required to conduct an investigation. Having an untrained employee conduct it isn't always the best idea as they are more likely to have biases or have their personal feelings involved. By hiring an external investigator, you can insure the case will be fair, even if the respondent/perpetrator is the CEO himself.
Cyber Safety Educator
I am passionate about teaching others how to stay safe online. As someone who spends a lot of time digging the Internet, I have had to learn how the internet and computers work, and I've learned a lot of how cyber criminals and hackers work in the process. Since middle school, I've heard many stories of people being hacked, scammed, harassed, and taken advantage of, so I want to do my best to teach others how to stay safe online so they won't become a victim as well.
MY STORY AND WHY I DO WHAT I DO
I've always wanted to be a detective, but I was told it was unrealistic and not a career path as a child. What pushed me to take the leap into the private investigation field as an adult was learning about the high number of cyber crime and the low number of victims who get help from authorities. Being a victim of a cyber crime myself at the age of 18, I know how hopeless and hurt one could feel. I'm especially passionate about crimes against one's safety and wellbeing, such as bullying, harassment, stalking, impersonation, and romance scams. It's troubling that many are dealing with this on a day to day basis and that few in power take these complaints seriously. Many live in fear and develop mental health issues like depression and anxiety. As I delved deeper into this field and I understood the complexities of investigating a cyber crime and trying to convict a hacker or criminal, I realized that prevention is best. It is better to spend a month securing your assets and a few hundred dollars on security tools than it is to spend the next few years and thousands of dollars trying to get back what was lost. Some never see the light at the end of the tunnel. My missing as a cyber intelligence analyst is to keep people safe. It only takes a few minutes to see if an online love interest is fake and potentially a criminal or human trafficker in disguise. It also only takes a few hours to help one see what is online about them so they can hide and delete that before a hacker uses it against them. I also write blog posts about cyber security and aim to become a speaker so more people can better secure themselves and less people become hopeless victims.
